The new 3G 5 a-side sports pitch was formally handed over to Aston University on Friday 15th August 2008.

Mr Gary East the clients Director of Estates took possession from O’Brien Contractors Stuart Chamberlain, following the completion of the 9 week design and build project. The client and their representatives were particularly pleased with the natural feel of the playing surface and were eager to allow the students to make full use of their new facilities as soon as possible. 

The underside of the playing surface was a “Finn” underground drainage system and free draining sub-base granular fill.The pitch was surrounded by a 5m high welded mesh fence, with lighting supplied by 8m high tubular steel columns and associated CCTV camera installation.The playing surface was “Desso Pro 60” 3rd generation synthetic sports surface.
